How COVID-19 is impacting Weddings & Events at Club Roma

PLANNING A WEDDING IN 2021: Nobody wants a PANDEMIC at the DISCO!

If planning a wedding wasn’t stressful enough, 2020 threw a curve ball by adding a global pandemic into the mix. But rest assured we stepped up to the task at hand – running fantastic events while ensuring guests and staff remain safe and comfortable.

When we realized COVID-19 was going to play a larger role in our lives than anyone could have anticipated, we decided our focus would be working with our couples to ensure they would still have the wedding of their dreams, within the new guidelines and restrictions put in place by the Canadian Government. As we now settle into the COVID era, weddings and other events are going to look a little different. However, with a few minor tweaks you can still have a special day at Club Roma celebrating your love.

We’re sure during the stress of planning your upcoming wedding, you are wondering what your event is going to look like with all these guidelines and restrictions.

When it comes to your guest list, that’s dependent on what the government is allowing for gatherings at the time of the wedding, and; therefore, are subject to change. You might be thinking, “and what about masks?” Well, face coverings will be required for guests entering the venue and walking to and from the washrooms. But don’t worry, guests can remove masks and face coverings while seated at their tables – no awkward moments during dinner.

Guests are expected to do their best at maintaining the government’s recommendation of keeping a distance of six feet from others who are not part of their household/bubble – so keep those hugs for post-pandemic. When your guests are feeling thirsty, we encourage them to stay safe by joining a socially distanced line-up for the bar, or if they need to line-up for anything else. Table settings will be up to you and doing your best to keep your guests comfortable with who they are seated with and grouped with, i.e.. household/bubble and/or family. As far as venue set-up, it will mostly stay the same, except for dining tables, which will be spread further apart leaving more space between guests.

During our 2020 season, Club Roma was able to be a part of very special moments between couples. We were still able to create romantic intimate ceremonies, elegant sit-down dinner receptions and creative late night food stations.

At the Club, late-night foods are normally help-yourself stations, which is a no-go during COVID-19. With a little bit of ingenuity, we were still able to deliver exciting and delicious food to our couples while keeping everyone’s safety in mind. One couple had their hearts set on having s’mores at their wedding, and instead of having platters and dishes with all the fixings for guests to help themselves, we put together adorable little s’mores kits.

Each kit had everything guests needed to make a couple delicious s’mores, and guests didn’t need to share tools or any other items with others. To take one step further, we were sure to have multiple fire pits set up so everyone could still follow social distancing guidelines.

So, bring us your creative, out-of-the-box ideas, and we’ll tailor them to your special day! We love a good challenge, and the chance to make your wedding unforgettable.

If the last year has taught us anything, it is to appreciate what is important to us and what we value most.
